If you’ve been following my blog very long, then you have probably noticed that Ryan and I enjoy using eco-friendly products when affordable and possible. Early on in our quest to become more green, we changed over to reusable grocery bags. However, it took us quite a bit longer to convert away from sandwich and snack bags. I tend to take a snack with me when I go to class, so I recently started using reusable sandwich bags at school. These work great for my snacks, but are less ideal when you have multiple lunches that require multiple bags, especially if the bags need dried each day. Ryan needs to take an entire lunch which requires a lunch box, a sandwich bag and a few snack bags. To purchase a reusable sandwich bag plus 3 snack bags would cost somewhere around 25.00. And that’s if I only needed 1 set and could wash them everyday between use. Otherwise I’d need twice as many, so that I would only have to wash them every other day. That gets expensive fast! Most of my readers have children who are probably in a similar situation with school lunches, if they pack cold lunch. I have found a very convenient, very affordable solution to eco-friendly lunches! Easy Lunch Boxes is a company who makes very simple, yet very handy lunch boxes. The real genius behind their idea isn’t the external lunchbox, which only costs 7.95 but is instead the container that fits inside of the lunch boxes. The containers include a large slot for a full sized sandwich, as well as smaller compartments for snacks. The entire container has a lid, so there’s no need for sandwich or snack baggies. Why didn’t someone think of this before?? The containers come in sets of 4 for 13.95. In addition to the great design, the container itself is great for other reasons. The container is BPA free, and contains no phthalates, lead, vinyl or PVC. Meaning, the containers are microwave, dishwasher and freezer safe. These make great kids lunch boxes that you don’t have to worry about!
The lunchbox itself is much deeper than needed for a single lunch container, so additional items like an apple, banana, thermos or additional food can be stored on top of the container inside of the lunch box. Or, you could add up to three containers on top of each other inside of 1 lunch box which would be handy for a picnic or summer outing. Overall we are very happy with our easy lunch boxes!
