I’m not a fan of traditional bleach. It’s so strong and “chemically” smelling. So I try to avoid it. However, even for those of you who love bleach, it only works for your whites, so that leaves the question of what to do for your colored laundry. I was given the opportunity to work with tropical traditions in a review of their oxygen bleach and I have fallen in love. It’s an extremely versatile product. Sure, you can use it on ALL of your laundry (even cloth diapers and mama cloth), but it also can be used in your shampooer to remove stains from your carpet, in your bathroom to clean sinks, the toilet and the tub, and even more. It’s really became my ‘go to’ product the last couple of weeks. The bottle suggests using 1 oz of oxygen bleach for lightly soiled clothing, and I’ve gotten in the habit of adding .5 an oz to every load that I do, even if it’s not stained. I was amazed at how bright my clothes came out after just one wash. Even clothes that I didn’t think were stained or faded, really came to life afterwards. Although it’s gross to talk about on my blog (sorry!), we all know that sweat stains are really hard to get out. Ryan’s favorite dress shirt is white, and the inside of the collar had gotten discolored from sweat. He had been avoiding wearing the shirt because of the discoloration and I had tried treating it with stain removers I had around but nothing would get rid of it. I threw the shirt in with a load of laundry and added 2 scoops (recommended for moderately soiled clothes) and it came out perfectly white. Right then and there I was totally sold on oxygen bleach. I love it and the 6lb (96 oz) size that I received will last a really long time. I plan to continue using oxygen bleach for a long time to come!
