Cool tricks is an etsy shop run by Toni, that sells adorable potholders among other things such as toys, quilts and others. She has lots of unique items but my favorite is her pb&j sandwich potholders. I love random quirky things and her pb&j potholders just tickled me. I even called Ryan over to show him, hehe. Here’s more about cool tricks in toni’s words: My name is Toni, I live in a small town in Northwestern Montana. I have five children and five grandchildren who are my toy testers. I started sewing at a young age, mostly embroidery, but left it behind for raising a family. I kept sketching and doodling throughout my life but never had the techniques to make my doodles come to life. I started experimenting with making toys when I had my son 23 years ago. I made him a little clown doll and we called him the Shaker Clown because he had a little rattle inside. I still have him, he sits on a shelf in my sewing room. My son recently asked if he could take him when he gets settled and such. Some of my toys have stories written about them but I have never printed them. I am going to try to do that this coming year.

I started making pot holders out of a need to be busy. They are a little quilt and I get to play with my fun, beautiful fabrics. I figured most everyone uses pot holders and will buy a few during their lives, why not make lovely ones?I enjoy picking out the fabrics the best, next to that I love doing the final top stitching and quilting the leaf pattern or grid, whichever suits the fabric.

My goal for my shop/business is to help pay the bills and have a little fun doing it. My dad told me once that if I loved my job I would never have to go to work. I live in a very depressed area and this is what I am able to do to contribute my part to the family. I love making things of beauty and providing something fun to children and adults alike is the best thing ever. I love seeing the smile on someone’s face when they see my stuff and are just drawn to touch it.
