Cloth pads come in a large variety of sizes, colors, lengths, styles, etc. Sckoon offers pads that are different than the pads I have used in the past. They are different in a few ways. One way is they are certified organic. Another way is their pads are not all in one. I was sent an Organic cloth menstrual day pad for review. Sckoon pads consist of a holder and a liner. The liner is a rectangle of fabric that is folded up and placed inside the holder. This allows for users to change only the liner, instead of the entire pad. So in theory you could buy a daytime sized holder, and a night time holder, and several liners and then if you wash your pads everyday during your period, you’d be set for the entire week. As long as you don’t leak onto the holder anyhow.

The liner (seen at right inside of holder) is a large rectangle that folds over 2 or 3 times so that it can fit inside of the pad. I have read reviews of sckoon menstrual pads where women say that they choose to take the liner out and fold it backwards, so that the ‘used’ part of the pad becomes the middle of the liner and then use it even longer. If you are comfortable with handling the pad enough to flip it over I think that would be a great way to save even more money because then you use less liners throughout the day. I didn’t flip mine over when I used it but i was still able to use it for four or five hours straight which is pretty typical for me.

I did not sleep or nap while wearing this pad so I was surprised that it did leak over onto the holder. This wasn’t due to wearing the pad for too long, because the liner wasn’t overused it just didn’t cover me enough on the sides. So that was a bit of a bummer but perhaps it was just a fluke. I rarely have issues with that so I’m guessing it was just an odd occurrence. I let both the holder and liner soak for a few hours until I was ready for my shower at night when I shower with my pads and then finish washing them by hand. both came clean. I was pleasantly surprised at how little the liner stained. Most of my ads are very colorful, so I haven’t had problems with them staining but with the liner being white I thought it would stain pretty badly, especially after I pulled it out of my soaking container and it was stained. It came almost perfectly clean. Of course stains shouldn’t change the ability of the pad to work, it’s just preferable to not have to wear them stained. So I thought it was nice that it didn’t seem to hold stains in very much.

Overall I was very happy with the pad. I hope that in the future sckoon considers making shorter pads for more petite people. I am a small person and their daytime pads are 10″ long which is the length of other nighttime pads that I use.
